New year, new project.

Had our first day back at university which means i finally am on 2nd year Illustration now prior to all the hassle! This year i aim to exert myself in everything that i do, apply for more competitions, start new things and basically have my fingers in every jam pot, i think that is a saying if not, that will be my metaphor..

THE BRIEF.
We have been assigned to set groups of people on our course to do some researching to which we shall give a presentation and then follow on solo. The unit is called Interpretation of Text and Professional Contexts. Very excited as i feel this really will be a great project and the end result will have a massive impact with my work.
Also i have to point out my new tutor is great, really feel like this year is going to be a good one as i got this start park with all the information i need for this unit. My work ethic is defiantly going to be different!
There are six different choices that can be used when each student carries their own work and they are..
Children's Books
Editorial
Graphic Novels
Non-fiction- informative books
Publishing- book jacket covers
Specialist limited edition books
The specialist area that our group has been assigned to is Specialists limited edition books which i think will be the one i follow on. At first i did want to do the Graphic Novel as it is going to be based on Oscar Wilde's " The Picture of Dorian Gray." But before we chose the name of subject we would be doing out of a lucky dip, i thought i shall stay with what i get put first as it will be a challenge doing something different.
We have two options with in the specialists limited edition books and that is between chosing 'Japanese Folk Tales' or to Franz Kafka's "The Metamorphosis." I've decided to research into the folk tales as i feel i could produce a lot of work based on this.
This is what i have to do..
"The folio Society are planning to realise a number of titles relationg to 'Japabese Folk Tales', and you have been commissioned to produce a series of five bespoke illustrations appropriate for young adults.
Single page artwork dimensions- portrait format - 240mm X 161mm (inclusing 3mm bleed on each dimension).
Additionally, you are required to submit a design for a slip-case, with the dimensions, 240mm X 16mm spine.
I will now carry on my research onto this matter yo!
